Its native token AVAX is used to pay transaction fees, secure the network, and serve as a basic unit of account across Avalanche blockchains.

The network supports near-instant transaction completion and can process up to 4,500 transactions per second.

Avalanche is open source, inviting anyone to view and contribute to its codebase.
