What is Soulbound Token?

A soulbound token (SBT) is a non-transferable NFT permanently bound to the wallet that received it. It cannot be sold, traded, or stolen making it ideal for representing identity, credentials, and achievements.

How does Soulbound Token work?

  1. An issuer mints an SBT to a specific wallet address.
  2. The smart contract blocks all transfer functions, making the token non-moveable.
  3. The token remains in the wallet permanently as a verifiable on-chain credential.

Why does Soulbound Token matter?

It enables on-chain identity and reputation systems that cannot be purchased or transferred. Credentials become tied to individuals rather than wallets, making them meaningful signals of genuine participation.

Key features of Soulbound Token

  • Non-transferable cannot be sold or gifted
  • Permanently bound to the receiving wallet
  • Verifiable on-chain without a central authority
  • No secondary market value purely representational
