Dash M2E is a Move-to-Earn mobile app for iOS and Android that rewards users for walking. It reads steps from Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect, converts them into claimable DASH tokens at a fixed rate, and sends rewards onchain to an embedded wallet. In beta testing with 127 users, the app recorded an average of 9,400 daily steps and 72% daily active usage. This article explains the features currently live in the v1.0 production build.

Step Tracking and Health API Integration

Dash reads step data from the device's native health platform instead of GPS. On iOS, it queries Apple HealthKit through HKQuantityTypeIdentifierStepCount, which aggregates steps from the iPhone and Apple Watch. On Android, it uses Google Health Connect, which normalizes and deduplicates step records from sources such as Google Fit, Samsung Health, Fitbit, and Garmin before Dash processes them.

Android users see a live dashboard count updated every 10 seconds through the device step counter sensor. iOS does not support real-time HealthKit queries in the same way, so the app syncs on open and on manual refresh.

Incoming records are validated on the client. Future-dated entries are discarded, zero-step records are filtered out, and only one activity record per date is stored in the local SQLite database. Records above 100,000 steps in a single day are flagged for review. In 50 beta benchmark sessions, step accuracy averaged 97.2% against manual counts across walking, running, and stair-climbing scenarios.

Reward Calculation

The base earning rate is fixed at 1,000 steps for 1 DASH token. The rate does not change based on platform growth or user count.

Two mechanics increase earnings. The streak multiplier activates after a user hits their daily step goal for 7 consecutive days and doubles rewards while the streak remains active. Users select a goal of 5,000, 10,000, or 15,000 steps during onboarding and can update it later in settings.

The referral boost adds 5% to earnings for each referred user, up to a maximum boost of 25% after five referrals. These mechanics stack. A user averaging 10,000 steps per day, with a 7-day streak and five referrals, would earn about 750 DASH per month compared with a 300 DASH monthly base rate. Daily counted steps are capped at 50,000, and rewards are rounded down to whole numbers before storage.

Embedded Wallet and Onchain Claims

Dash uses Privy's embedded wallet SDK to generate a self-custody wallet during signup. The wallet is linked to an email or social login, recovery works through verification, and no seed phrase is surfaced to the user. Private keys are encrypted on the device.

When a user taps Claim, the app calls claimRewards() on the DashToken ERC-20 contract deployed on Base Sepolia at 0x1D0462b49CD8909341AEcFB6108eca4b0E9Cdfa5. Gas is estimated automatically with a 20% buffer. After confirmation, the app refreshes the balance and returns a clear error state if the transaction fails.

From the wallet screen, users can view DASH balances, check claimable rewards, send DASH to other wallets, and send ETH. Current utility is limited to holding for level progression and peer transfers, while staking, marketplace spend, governance voting, and bridging are listed in the v2.0 roadmap.

Referral System and Squad Tiers

Each user receives a unique 6-character referral code at first login, formatted as DASH plus two characters, such as DASH42. New users can enter that code during onboarding, which increments the inviter's referral count and applies the permanent boost.

The app uses four referral tiers:

Sharing uses the native mobile share sheet. The profile screen displays the referral code, current squad tier, and total invited users. Notifications, Stats, and Activity Tracking

Dash handles notifications locally on the device. Users can enable a daily goal reminder, a streak-at-risk alert at 7 PM when the daily target has not been met, and a claim reminder once claimable rewards exceed 10 DASH.

The stats screen includes today's steps, 7-day and 30-day rolling averages, current streak length, claimable rewards, day-week-month sparklines, and lifetime totals for steps and DASH earned. Because the app stores data in a local SQLite database, the stats view loads quickly and remains available offline.

The database separates raw activity records, daily summaries, and reward records. Reward rows track states such as pending, claimable, or claimed, along with transaction hashes where relevant.

Trophy System and Profile

Dash includes a trophy system that tracks achievements separately from token balances. Trophies unlock from cumulative steps, streak milestones, and referral counts. Examples in the current design include First Steps, Week Warrior, and Marathon Master.

The profile screen shows username, profile image, level, referral code, and squad tier. Profile images are uploaded from the photo library and stored locally as compressed base64. Level progression is tied to total DASH earned, with 10 DASH mapped to Level 1 and 100 DASH mapped to Level 2, then scaling upward. Settings include notification controls, daily goal adjustment, and support access.

Token Economics and Sustainability

DASH is described as a standard ERC-20 token with 18 decimals and an initial supply of 1,000,000 on Base Sepolia. The planned mainnet distribution allocates 40% to the user rewards pool, 25% to team and advisors with a 12-month cliff and 24-month vest, 20% to liquidity, 10% to partnerships, and 5% to treasury.

The reward model is fixed rather than variable. The draft positions this as an alternative to earlier Move-to-Earn models that relied on inflationary token loops tied to new user deposits. Planned burn mechanics include 1% of marketplace spend and 50% of NFT sneaker sale revenue, while any treasury minting would require a DAO vote after governance launches.

Planned revenue sources after mainnet include opt-in video ads that pay 5 DASH per view, a $4.99 monthly premium plan with a 1.5x base rate, limited NFT sneaker sales, and sponsored brand challenges.

Architecture and What Changes in v2.0

The current v1.0 build uses a local-first architecture with no backend server. Activity data is stored on-device in SQLite, and reward claims are handled directly against the smart contract after manual allocation by the contract owner through Blockscout.

The v2.0 roadmap, targeted in the draft for Q2-Q4 2026, adds a Node.js backend with PostgreSQL for multi-user ledger accounting, EIP-712 signed claim approvals, ML-based anti-cheat checks, and real-time WebSocket step syncing. The contract is also planned to move to DashTokenV2 with signature verification and replay protection through claim ID nonces.
